Reduced relative clause Exercises

In English, when a defining relative clause contains a continuous or passive verb form, we can often leave out who, that or which and the auxiliary. These are called reduced relative clauses and are very common in spoken English.

Example sentences :

  • Everyone (who is) working in this office suffers from some kind of back pain.
  • The trilogy (that was) written by Stieg Larsson has been made into a film.
  • Who is the girl (who is) sitting next to your brother?
  • Yesterday I read a book (which was) written by Hemingway.
  • Please book all the tickets (that are) available.

Reduced relative clause example sentences
It's the first time I've heard of someone wanting cubed mushrooms.버섯을 깍둑썰기 해달라는 사람은 처음 보는데.
Hang on a sec, there is another couple living upstairs.있어봐요, 윗층에도 커플이 살잖아요.
Also, in London we have digital time tables showing when buses are coming.그리고 런던에는 버스가 언제 오는지 보여주는 전자시간표가 있어.
Then I saw your bag sitting on the chair by itself.근데 네 가방은 의자에 홀로 덩그러니 남아있고.
I know some people working there, too.나도 거기 일하는 사람을 몇 명 알거든.
There are oven-mitts hanging on the wall.벽에 오븐용 장갑이 걸려있어.
They are all English teachers working at the same school.다들 같은 학교에서 일하시는 영어 선생님들이야.
It was definitely not me arranging the time!내가 그 시간을 잡은 게 절대 아니었다고!
Basically, it's a boy size robot, thinking it's not a robot.그러니까, 남자아이만한 로봇이, 자기가 로봇이 아니라고 생각하는 거지.
