Cate or Kate is short for Catherine or Katherine... so the spelling usually depends on the longer name it is shortened from :)

I think we have to stop using "it". Why do they call the babies and the animals, it? In Cambridge University they started to use "ze" pronoun instead of he or she  for example.

We can use "going" or "to go" after "like" with no change in meaning, but we don't use "the" before hospitals :)
